Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was born and raised within Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam, her mother was an old backup singer at Philadelphia International Records. When she was five years old, old, her father landed a position as a curator at the city's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family moved into the historical landmark. In 2005 she was a graduate of the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts as singer-music major. Sullivan played the contralto for the youth choir, and after a couple of years later, she was a singer as an adult in the choir. Sullivan experienced only a small amount of secular music. The singer recalls she was eleven when someone requested her to sing in a solo at church. However, she was not fully ready. "Then the time came that McDonald's held a contest for students in big cities I was invited to sing 'Accept Whatever God Does' on Showtime at the Apollo and the audience loved it". Stevie Wonder sang her part at his 13th birthday. Sullivan had signed her first contract to Jive Records when she was 15. She recorded an entire album. However, the album never came out. Sullivan was later dropped at the hands of the company. Missy Elliott was her producer for several tracks from their debut album. One of them was "Backstabbers", a buzz track written by Timbaland composed by Elliott.
